C High-rise

The brutal presence of an expressed structure, developed over several levels, provides a dominant shell within which the more tender interior of the living space itself can be moulded. Added to this is the organic manner in which the upper levels of this residential development begins to unfurl. Then the weighty concrete elements suddenly find a spirit of their own. The image of a tree comes to mind. At the base of this are two noteworthy events. One is the carefully orchestrated flow of traffic under a podium within which water dominates. Circulation patterns, secluded under the podium pool and kept to the north of the volumes increase the sensation of positive isolation of the experience from the surrounding urban landscape.
