Forum Greek Private Secondary School

The school’s presence is denoted through the most significant element of its architectural synthesis, the linear volume alongside the busy road which simultaneously acts as a barrier. The library, laboratories and the music room are situated on its top floor, while on the ground floor the lobby extends its functions towards the outdoors, providing a certain level of privacy to the multipurpose hall. The elements of the design form a courtyard in the centre, with the multipurpose hall at one end retaining some independence. Further courtyards and green spaces are created between the parallel, classroom volumes.

Material and colour are employed as legible codes for the various facilities of the school. Sustainable aspects start with orientation, shading elements to the South, filters to the West and include cross ventilation and strategically incorporated thermal mass elements. A colourful tapestry still manages to retain a singular identity through material, colour and external spaces. Honourable mention state prize 2010
