Palm Beach Resort - Sea Breeze Tower

A project which has the unusual task of providing a spatial strategy, a network at street level within which is inserted the Sea Breeze residential tower. The result is the rational solution to the circulation along the ground, with its pergolas and perforated canopies that form a deep structure within which resort facilities are housed. Undulating, amorphous soft landscape within which water bodies and more architectural enclosures describe containment through a more specific geometry. It is a rich tapestry out of which the volume of the Sea Breeze rises, providing a potent visual lighthouse to the wider context. There is a pleasing clarity about the Sea Breeze tower, neat, crisp and consistent. To this purpose the structural slabs have been employed as a first, enriched statement of horizontality. The balconies this creates are then further informed with planters, specifically designed balustrades, triangular Verde Alpi dividers and, finally, voids within the slabs themselves. In this manner the rich tapestry of the surrounding landscape moves up the towers volume, lending it an increased feeling of depth as well as adding a pleasant green element. The result is that, as one approaches the tower it becomes a series of smaller events. The design is about presence, about clarity and about integration.
